We hope to see you around! If you have questions about our research labs, please contact Vya Sutton. Her email is vya.sutton@gmail.com

These lab times and locations apply to the Fall Semester 2017. Starting September 11th, 2017.

Personal Research: Friday 2pm, Dr. Timothy's office. Located in the College of Math and Science.

The purpose of the Personal Research lab is to run various projects pertaining to different psychology fields such as behavioral, evolutionary, social, sports psychology, etc. Students will gain not only experience and specialize their interests, but also will have the opportunity of going to the Association of Psychological Science Conference held annually in Chicago, Boston, or Washington D.C. This will enhance each student’s resume by providing them with hands-on experience.

Cultural Research: Tuesday 4pm, Dr. Beckstead's office. Located in the Old Gym 282B

The Cultural Psychology Lab seeks to understand the dynamic relationship between human beings and culture. What is the relationship between the person and the world? How do individuals create meaning in their everyday life settings to deal with uncertainty? How do these meanings regulate the psyche (i.e., how we act, think and feel)? How do we collectively create meanings and how do social institutions guide individual development? We empirically examine these questions through primarily qualitative approaches. In addition, we are looking at some independent physiological measures individuals experience a cultural event.

Clinical: Friday 2pm, Dr. Orr's office. Located in the Old Gym room 282C

The purpose of the Clinical Psychology research lab is to explore and understand psychologically-based distresses and dysfunctions and to promote subjective well-being and personal development. We work with Dr. Eric Orr, a licensed psychologist on campus who completed his doctoral degree at BYU Provo and also does his own personal research with highly acclaimed organizations. Students participate in clinical research including assessing educational trends and outcomes. Students are able to get hands on experience in the field of Clinical Psychology as they compile literature reviews, do statistical analyses and present their research at national conferences.

Polynesian Cultural Center Marketing: Tuesday 2pm, TBA
This research lab is to provide scientifically based recommendations in order to improve the Polynesian Cultural Center’s guest satisfaction. We provide student volunteers with hands-on experience in designing and executing data collection schemes and performing statistical analysis of the resulting data. This will strengthen their understanding of statistics by applying what they learned in class to real life practical settings. Students working with the PCC have been accepted into many prestigious graduate programs throughout the United States. Be advised that this recommendation will be earned, thus giving you the opportunity to learn and grow. For more information contact Debbie Kwok at debby_kwokPY@hotmail.com
